Experts Convene on Philippine Climate Pathways After COP30

  • Cities & Policy

On 27 November 2026, high-level experts and key stakeholders convened at the “Climate Justice Meets Climate Action: The ICJ Ruling and the Philippine’s Race to Zero” webinar to examine the climate pathways available to the Philippines in light of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) advisory opinion and the outcomes of COP30.

Bringing together representatives from government, business, civil society, development organizations, and the academe, the event served as a critical platform for dialogue on how global climate commitments can be translated into concrete national action.

The discussions highlighted the Philippines’ growing responsibility and opportunity to align economic development with climate resilience and decarbonization goals. Participants explored the implications of international climate governance, emerging policy directions, and the role of accountability mechanisms in accelerating implementation across sectors. Particular attention was given to how climate action can remain inclusive and equitable, especially for vulnerable communities and industries facing the impacts of the transition.

The forum also emphasized the expanding importance of climate finance in enabling adaptation, mitigation, and innovation initiatives. Speakers underscored the need for stronger public-private collaboration, increased investment in sustainable infrastructure, and accessible financing mechanisms that support a just transition toward a low-carbon economy. Discussions further recognized the role of science-based targets, corporate leadership, and youth engagement in driving long-term climate ambition in the country.

The webinar reinforced the urgency of collective action and cross-sector cooperation in ensuring that the Philippines advances toward a more resilient, equitable, and science-based development trajectory.

Keep up with the Race.
